In this week’s Pastor Speaks, Pastor Yvonne Brooks explores the difference between responsibility and control. Drawing from Galatians 6, we are reminded to carry one another’s burdens, while recognising that each person also has a load they must carry themselves. Spiritual maturity means learning the difference between supporting someone and becoming responsible for their choices or outcomes. Need alone does not always determine assignment. A helpful question to ask is: “Lord, what is mine to do?” We can care without controlling, obey without controlling the outcome, and faithfully carry what God gives us without adding what He didn’t.
