UNDRAFTED, 154 GAMES, AGE 36 – THE RANGERS JUST BROUGHT HIM BACK AGAIN! | Justin Dowling

On October 17, 2026, the Rangers sent first-round pick Cole Beaudoin back to Hartford and recalled Justin Dowling, a center who has never been drafted by any NHL team. Dowling is 36 years old and has played 154 NHL games across four organizations — the Devils, the Canucks, the Stars, and now a second stint with the Rangers — all without a single draft pick ever being spent on him. This video traces how an undrafted player breaks into pro hockey in the first place through a professional tryout contract (the door Dowling walked through with the Abbotsford Heat back in 2011), why four separate front offices independently kept bringing him back, and what trusting a 36-year-old journeyman over a first-round pick for center minutes actually says about how this front office is managing pressure points across the entire roster this season. — SOURCES — ProHockeyRumors, Rangers Recall Justin Dowling; Reassign Cole Beaudoin: https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2026/...
