Leaning on Jesus | There Is a Place Closer to Him | Pastor Chris Swett

In “Leaning on Jesus,” Pastor Chris Swett preaches from John 13:23 about John the beloved resting upon Jesus and challenges every believer with a personal question: Are you merely acquainted with Jesus—or do you truly have a relationship with Him? There is a difference between knowing ABOUT Jesus and KNOWING Jesus. John was not satisfied simply being one of the twelve disciples standing around the Lord. He saw that there was a place closer to Jesus, and his desire drove him to occupy it. He leaned upon Christ, rested on Him, and became close enough to hear the heartbeat of the Savior. That same invitation is available to us. There is a place closer to Jesus than where we are right now. Pastor Swett challenges us not to become satisfied with a Sunday-and-Wednesday relationship with God. Jesus deserves more than occasional conversations when something goes wrong. He desires an intentional, personal relationship with us every day. John shows us what happens when desire becomes determination. He moved closer. He leaned upon Jesus. He stopped depending upon himself. He became connected to the Master. Proverbs 3:5 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and “lean not unto thine own understanding.” When we lean upon our own understanding, we can make a mess of our circumstances. But when we rest our burdens, problems, families, fears, and entire lives upon Jesus, we discover the peace, strength, and security that can only be found in Him. This message also reminds us that we cannot always depend on somebody else to pray for us or communicate with God for us. Through Jesus Christ, the veil has been torn and the door into God's presence has been opened. There is a place for YOU at His table. You can come boldly. You can know Him personally. You can rest in His presence. You can lean upon Jesus. Don't become satisfied with where you are spiritually. COME CLOSER. Main Scripture: John 13:23 “Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.” If this message encourages or challenges you, please like, share, and subscribe for more preaching and biblical encouragement. #LeaningOnJesus #PastorChrisSwett #John13 #ComeCloser #TrustJesus #ChristianSermon #Preaching #RelationshipWithGod #Faith #JesusChrist Pastor Chris Swett Pickens Church of God Schedule: Sunday Service Times 10am - Sunday School 11am - Morning Service 6pm - Evening Service Wednesday Night Service 7pm Live Service Times Sunday Morning - 11am Sunday Evening - 6pm Wednesday Night - 7pm If you have any prayer request please leave them in the comments section so we can add them to our prayer line.
