महाराष्ट्र के रायगढ़ जिले के महाड गाँव में स्थित श्री वरद विनायक मंदिर अष्टविनायक गणेश मंदिरों में से चौथा माना जाता है। यह मंदिर 1690 ईस्वी में निर्मित हुआ था और 1725 में पेशवा शासनकाल में इसे मराठा सरदार सुबेदार रामजी महादेव बिवालकर ने पुनर्निर्मित कराया। मंदिर की विशेषता है कि यहाँ का गणपति विग्रह स्वयंभू माना जाता है, जिसे तेल के दीपक में खोजा गया था। मान्यता है कि यहाँ भगवान गणेश भक्तों की सभी मनोकामनाएँ पूर्ण करते हैं और इसलिए इन्हें “वरद विनायक”—अर्थात वर देने वाले—कहा जाता है। इस मंदिर का एक अनोखा पहलू यह है कि श्रद्धालु सीधे गर्भगृह में प्रवेश कर भगवान गणेश की प्रतिमा को स्पर्श कर सकते हैं, जो अष्टविनायक मंदिरों में दुर्लभ है। मंदिर परिसर में एक पवित्र सरोवर भी है, जिसे गणेश तालाब कहा जाता है। यहाँ प्रतिदिन नित्य पूजन, आरती और भोग होता है। गणेश चतुर्थी और महोत्सव के दिनों में मंदिर में विशेष श्रद्धा और उत्साह का वातावरण रहता है। भक्तों का विश्वास है कि श्री वरद विनायक के दर्शन मात्र से जीवन की सभी बाधाएँ दूर होती हैं और सुख-समृद्धि का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होता है। Shri Varad Vinayak Temple, located in Mahad (Raigad, Maharashtra), is one of the sacred Ashtavinayak Ganpati temples. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, this temple is believed to grant the wishes of devotees instantly, making it one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra. The temple’s legend dates back to 1690, when a divine idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered in a pond by a villager. Later, in 1725, Subhedar Ramji Bivalkar constructed the temple and enshrined the idol, which is now worshipped as Shri Varad Vinayak. The idol is self-manifested (Swayambhu) with the trunk turned left, and devotees believe that worshiping here brings prosperity and fulfillment of desires. Inside the sanctum, devotees can personally offer garlands and perform puja. The eternal lamp (Nandadeep) here has been burning continuously since 1892. The temple complex is adorned with sculptures, idols of Navagrahas, Mushak (the vahana of Lord Ganesh), and a holy water stream. Close to the temple is the famous Ganesh Teerth pond, the original place where the idol was found. Major festivals are celebrated during Magh Shukla Paksha and Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha, drawing thousands of devotees. Accessible by road, rail, and air, this temple is a must-visit for every Ganesh devotee.
