Anholt and Samsø: ULTFARMS Pilot Site Findings from the Baltic Sea

Discover the research carried out at two Danish ULTFARMS pilot sites, Anholt and Samsø, located in the Baltic Sea basin. Jens Kjerulf Petersen shares the findings, challenges, and solutions from both sites. At Samsø South, operated by Wind Estate, the pilot investigated the production potential of commercially viable low-trophic aquaculture species, evaluated cultivation technologies in offshore conditions, and assessed the operational and commercial aspects of working within an offshore wind area. The site also explored multi-use integration during the planning stages of a wind park expansion. At Anholt, one of the largest offshore wind areas in the Baltic basin and operated by Ørsted Wind Power, the pilot investigated production potential, developed adaptations of existing and emerging technologies for offshore conditions, and examined monitoring systems, biodiversity effects, and innovative cultivation techniques.
