Instead, strange movement begins following them along the shoreline. At first they assume it is a deer, hog, or possibly a bear, but when the animal finally steps into view, both men realize they are looking at something far stranger. Standing more than seven feet tall with a massive upper body, long arms, pointed ears, and the unmistakable head of a canine, the creature watches them from the edge of the woods before dropping smoothly onto all fours. As the fishermen slowly make their way out of the cove, something continues moving through the trees beside them. What they experienced that night would eventually lead them to the many Dogman reports connected to Land Between the Lakes, and leave one of them permanently reconsidering what might be living in those isolated Kentucky woods. Dogman Encounter 2- Mike spends his career working in Michigan forests and is accustomed to encountering wildlife. So when he and a young forestry intern discover unusually large canine tracks near the Manistee National Forest, they assume they may have found evidence of a large wolf. A short time later, they see the animal itself. At first it appears to be an enormous gray-brown canine moving on four legs. Then, in broad daylight, it rises upright. Standing roughly seven feet tall, with a massive chest, long arms, strange legs, and the head of a wolf, the creature calmly watches the two forestry workers before stepping behind a tree. As Mike and Tyler leave the area, the same animal appears to move through the woods behind them before eventually stepping into an open logging road on two legs. Their encounter ends without an attack, but what they witnessed would later lead both men to the legend of the Michigan Dogman. Dogman Encounter 3- While staying alone at her parents’ horse property outside Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Rachel notices something unusual. All four horses have gathered near the barn and are staring toward the far end of the pasture. Assuming a coyote or loose dog is bothering them, she grabs a flashlight and heads outside. What she finds resembles an enormous German shepherd at first. Then the animal rises onto two legs. Towering above the pasture fence, the creature has a broad chest, long forelimbs, a canine muzzle, and upright ears. It calmly moves along the fence, investigates the gate, and even seems to react to Rachel’s voice before eventually disappearing into the woods. The following morning, enormous canine tracks are discovered near the pasture. Only afterward does Rachel learn that her encounter took place near the same Wisconsin roads associated with one of America’s most famous upright-canine legends: the Beast of Bray Road.
