Hidden among the Dead Sea Scrolls is a calendar of exactly 364 days. Every festival falls on the same weekday every year, the year begins on a Wednesday, and none of the holy days ever lands on the Sabbath. Its followers traced it back to the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees and set it against the moon-based calendar of the Temple in Jerusalem. We look at the evidence: the priestly duty rosters from Qumran, the Halakhic Letter, the Habakkuk commentary's strange Day of Atonement confrontation, and a coded scroll put back together from more than sixty tiny fragments by researchers at the University of Haifa. We also cover a 2026 Tel Aviv University study arguing that the Qumran community really lived by this calendar for a time and then gave it up. Finally, we trace how the 364-day year entered the debate over the Last Supper, from Annie Jaubert's Tuesday theory to Pope Benedict XVI, and we separate what scripture, tradition and archaeology can each tell us.
