May 16, 1940. In the main street of Stonne, a single French Char B1 bis named "Eure" drives head-on into a column of German tanks. French accounts say it knocked out thirteen of them and took around 140 hits without being stopped. So why did France still lose? Six days earlier, the panzers had broken through at Sedan. The heights of Stonne looked straight down on their bridgehead, and for three days the village changed hands seventeen times. German veterans called it "the Verdun of 1940". 🗺️ The map tells the story, the model shows it. Subscribe for the next battle: https://www.youtube.com/@MapAndSteel?...
