Before the internet, most Muslims followed the school of thought inherited from their family, local mosque, and community. Today, a single smartphone gives us access to scholars, speakers, and competing religious interpretations from across the Muslim world.
This documentary explores how YouTube and social media have transformed religious learning in Pakistan, India, and beyond. It examines the approaches associated with Mufti Taqi Usmani, Maulana Ilyas Qadri, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, Javed Ahmad Ghamidi, Allama Syed Jawad Naqwi, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, Hassan Allahyari, Mufti Fazal Hamdard, Yaseen Qadri and Sahil Adeem.
Has the internet encouraged Muslims to examine evidence and understand different viewpoints? Or has traditional sectarian loyalty simply been replaced by online personality worship, viral rebuttals, and digital groups?
The internet can expand our knowledge, but it can also reward anger, ridicule, and selective clips. The real question is whether we use it to understand Islam more deeply—or merely to defend our favourite speaker.
Watch the complete documentary and share your respectful opinion: Has social media opened your mind, or only changed the personality you follow?
