Tablighi Jamaat was already spreading its message of Islamic revival across the Indian subcontinent. So why did another major Islamic preaching movement, Dawat-e-Islami, emerge in Karachi in 1981? If both movements encourage Muslims to practice Islam, follow the Sunnah, and improve their religious lives, why did they develop as two separate organizations? In this Urdu historical documentary, we explore the untold background, historical origins, religious traditions, and key differences between Tablighi Jamaat and Dawat-e-Islami. Founded by Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi in the 1920s, Tablighi Jamaat developed into an international Islamic revival movement associated with the Deobandi scholarly tradition. Decades later, Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri founded Dawat-e-Islami in Karachi in 1981, drawing upon the Barelvi tradition of Sunni Islam. But what explains the emergence of two distinct movements with overlapping religious objectives? In this documentary, you will discover: How and why Tablighi Jamaat began in Mewat during the 1920s. The historical background behind the establishment of Dawat-e-Islami in 1981. The influence of Deobandi and Barelvi religious traditions. The roles of Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi and Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri. Why the two movements developed different organizational identities. Differences in preaching methods, religious gatherings, missionary travel, and educational activities. The importance of Tablighi Jamaat's six principles and Dawat-e-Islami's Madani Qafilas. How books, religious education, and modern media helped shape their outreach. What their histories reveal about Islamic revival movements in South Asia. This documentary also examines the distinction between religious disagreement, organizational separation, and different approaches to Islamic preaching. Was Dawat-e-Islami a breakaway from Tablighi Jamaat, or did it emerge independently from a different religious tradition? Watch the complete documentary to understand the historical context.
