RAF Stoney Cross Revealed: Exploring a Forgotten WW2 Airfield

Join us on On The Road with Winston as we explore the fascinating remains of RAF Stoney Cross, a former World War II airfield hidden within the New Forest. Camping at Longbeech Campsite, we head out on foot to discover the surviving foundations of wartime buildings, old utility roads and original flooring, revealing clues to the airfield’s past. What might look like ordinary woodland today was once a busy RAF station. Our walk takes us through the beautiful New Forest landscape, along woodland trails and past the Sir Walter Tyrell pub, where we stop for a well-earned drink. We also investigate a mysterious loud noise from the previous night and discover a fallen tree deep in the woods. But the real highlight is seeing RAF Stoney Cross from above. Using drone footage, we reveal more of the old runway and military site, helping to bring this forgotten piece of World War II history to life.
