Making a brooch bouquet & parallel design.
I'd strongly advise wiring and taping your components, combining them into "units" and trimming out the surplus wire - this will reduce weight and bulk.
If you'd like to cover your buttons with fabric, wire them first and then cover. Measure the diameter of your button and double it go get a circle of fabric the right size. 2cm button = 4cm fabric (or a little but less).
For your parallel design I'd recommend drilling holes and adding a spot of glue. You may need to secure your wires by taping them in place with your pliers/hammer.
Haven't got strong enough wires? Tape two wires together for strength.
For this project you'll need
1. pine cones - long ones and/or round ones
2. floristry stub wires - a mix of lightweight and sturdier ones - 0.56mm https://amzn.to/45Lpkif (24 gauge) and 0.90mm https://amzn.to/45K1PWw (19 gauge) - they'll need to support your pinecones/buttons
Optional extras:
1. large buttons (fabric and a needle and thread)
2. stem tape https://amzn.to/3Q7Q0UC
3. slab of wood (at least 1.5cm deep) - you could use a log slice or an old chopping board
4. Christmas bling
You'll also need a well-stocked tool box - including a pair of secateurs and wire cutters.
