Ceremonial Turnover of Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program Funds to LGUs

“I am pleased to lead the formal turnover of funds under the Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program to our LGUs — another testament to our commitment to strengthening our LGUs to better respond to our community’s needs,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the ceremonial turnover of Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program (DRRAP) funds to Local Government Units (LGUs) at the Ceremonial Hall in Malacañan Palace on November 5, 2026. Recognizing the country’s vulnerability to typhoons, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, the President underscored the importance of cooperation between national and local governments to help disaster-affected communities recover. He emphasized that LGUs, being familiar with their constituents’ needs, are best positioned to identify and prioritize rehabilitation efforts based on their respective circumstances. The government approved Php8.6 billion in DRRAP assistance for 306 heavily affected LGUs from 2024 to 2026 to support the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure, housing, public facilities, agriculture and livelihoods. “The way forward is clear. Together, let us make sure that that recovery reaches every Filipino in need,” stated the President. He called on those involved in the program to fulfill their responsibilities with excellence and integrity, reminding them that the funds are public resources intended for disaster-affected Filipinos and must not be used for personal gain. He stressed that there must be no room for corruption, ghost projects or substandard rehabilitation work. “Sama-sama nating itatayo muli ang ating mga komunidad, mas matatag at mas handa, tungo sa isang Bagong Pilipinas, kung saan walang maiiwan at walang mawawalan ng pag-asa,” President Marcos Jr. said in closing.
