Is the dehumidifier already running in your basement worth keeping, or should you replace it? We investigated 8 dehumidifier brands: GE, LG, Danby, Honeywell, Frigidaire, Midea, AprilAire and Santa Fe. We checked official recall notices, exact-model documents, warranty terms, support routes and a published third-party performance test. Some older units require an immediate recall check. Other models are discontinued, difficult to support or only worth buying under specific conditions. You’ll learn: • Which older dehumidifiers should be checked against federal recall notices • Why a familiar brand name may not tell you who manufactured or supports the unit • Which discontinued models we would skip as new purchases • What happened to direct support from Honeywell Air Comfort’s former licensee • Why Danby and the Midea Cube make our portable shortlist • When an AprilAire or Santa Fe installed system makes more sense • How drainage, warranty terms and basement temperature change the buying decision Before running or replacing your dehumidifier, photograph the full model, serial number and date label on the back. Compare that information with the official recall notices below. Brand name alone is not enough. This investigation does not claim that every model from these brands is recalled or unsafe. We did not perform our own laboratory testing or establish a safest-brand ranking. Recalls apply only to the models, manufacturing dates and serial ranges listed in the official notices. #Dehumidifiers #HomeImprovement #Homeowners
