Muse - Hysteria [Official Music Video]

Watch the official music video for “Hysteria” by Muse, the acclaimed third single from their landmark 2003 album Absolution. Fueled by one of the most famous, heavily distorted basslines in rock history, “Hysteria” explores themes of overwhelming obsession, paranoia, and psychological collapse. Featuring Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard, the track showcases Muse at their most raw and explosive. Directed by Mark Klassfeld, the dramatic music video stars actor Justin Theroux as a man consumed by obsession in a hotel room, bringing the song’s chaotic narrative and intense emotional downfall to life alongside intercut footage of the band's ferocious performance. Released as a single in 2003, “Hysteria” became an international hit, reaching the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart and climbing to No. 9 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. The song remains one of Muse’s signature recordings, alongside alternative rock classics like “Uprising,” “Supermassive Black Hole,” “Starlight,” “Knights of Cydonia,” and “Time Is Running Out. ”Absolution marked a major breakthrough for Muse, introducing their blend of apocalyptic themes, symphonic arrangement, and heavy alt-rock riffs to a global audience. Featuring hit singles like “Time Is Running Out,” “Sing for Absolution,” and “Butterflies and Hurricanes,” the album established Muse as one of the defining alternative rock acts of the 2000s.
