Muse - Time Is Running Out [Official Music Video]

Watch the official music video for “Time Is Running Out” by Muse, the breakout lead single from their landmark 2003 album Absolution. Driven by an irresistible fuzz-bass groove and an explosive chorus, “Time Is Running Out” explores themes of urgency, suffocating obsession, and the feeling of losing control as time slips away. Featuring Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard, the song proved to be a major international turning point for Muse. Its iconic music video, directed by John Hillcoat, features military officials and heads of state gathered around a large round table, slowly breaking into a synchronized, chaotic dance as the song escalates, bringing the track’s sociopolitical commentary and impending sense of dread to life. Released as a single in 2003, “Time Is Running Out” became Muse’s first top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart and marked their first top 10 entry on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart in the United States. The song remains one of Muse’s signature recordings, alongside alternative rock classics like “Uprising,” “Supermassive Black Hole,” “Starlight,” “Knights of Cydonia,” and “Hysteria.” Absolution marked a major breakthrough for Muse, introducing their blend of apocalyptic themes, symphonic arrangement, and heavy alt-rock riffs to a global audience. Featuring hit singles like “Hysteria,” “Sing for Absolution,” and “Butterflies and Hurricanes,” the album established Muse as one of the defining alternative rock acts of the 2000s. Unravelling.
