🎧 Adele의 When We Were Young을 듣다가 문득 이런 생각이 들었습니다. 우리가 그토록 그리워하는 젊음이 이 노래를 직접 듣는다면 어떤 기분일까. 우리는 젊음을 이미 지나가 버린 시간처럼 이야기하고 사진 속의 나를 바라보며 그때로 돌아가고 싶다고 말하곤 합니다. 그럼 젊음의 입장에서는 조금 서운하지 않을까요. 나는 사라진 적이 없는데. 나이가 들면서 다른 모습으로 변하고, 더 많은 색을 가지며 오히려 새로운 모습으로 선명해지고 있는데. 그래서 이번에는 젊음 그 자체가 When We Were Young에 답한다면 어떤 말을 할까 생각하며 가사를 썼습니다. 과거의 나를 그리워하는 동안 지금의 나를 놓치고 언젠가 다시 오늘을 돌아보며 그때를 즐기지 못한 것을 후회하지 않았으면 좋겠다는 마음도 함께 담았습니다. 우리가 찾고 있던 젊음은 어쩌면 오래전 사진 속에만 있는 게 아니라 지금까지 계속 우리 곁에 있었을지도 모르니까요. I was there all along. 지금의 당신에게 남아 있는 젊음은 어떤 모습인가요? 🎧 While listening to Adele’s When We Were Young, a thought crossed my mind. How would youth itself feel if it could hear us talking about it as something we had already lost? We often talk about youth as a time that has already passed, looking at old photographs and wishing we could go back to who we were then. But maybe youth would feel a little hurt hearing that. Maybe it never left us at all. Maybe it simply changed with us, took on new colors, and became clearer in a different form. So I wrote All Along from the perspective of youth itself, imagining what it might want to say back to When We Were Young. I also wanted to capture another thought: if we spend too much time missing who we used to be, we might miss who we are right now — only to look back someday and regret not enjoying this version of ourselves either.
