These remasters of Romantic Era singers focus on bringing a more lifelike presentation to the original acoustic recordings. Noise reduction was secondary to the preservation of the natural vocal timbre. Hopefully these recordings can now be more appropriately appreciated by modern listeners. In this aria from the Wagnerian opera Rienzi, we find the protagonist, Rienzi, in a moment of thoughtful prayer. Francisco Viñas i Dordal (27 March 1863 – 14 July 1933) was a famed Spanish tenor who sang a wide repertoire, eventually being hailed as a great Wagnerian. He performed at many of the great opera houses of Europe until his retirement in 1918. Remastering done by Anthony Deaton.
