Recorded on the 20th of October, 1913 by Fonotipia (69165), the magnificent tenor, Fernando Carpi, sings De' Miei Bollenti Spiriti from Giuseppe Verdi's opera, La Traviata. Fernando Carpi (1876-1959) was a tenor of international renown and was the son of a well-known tenor who sang at Covent Garden for three seasons. Fernando sang at many of the great houses including, Covent Garden, San Carlo, Costanzi, Chicago, and the Metropolitan Opera. These remasters of Romantic Era singers focus on bringing a more lifelike presentation to the original acoustic recordings. Noise reduction was secondary to preservation of the natural vocal timbre. Hopefully these recordings can now be more appropriately appreciated by modern listeners.
