October 6, 2026 drone flight The "Quantum Shore" master plan is a massive 440-acre lakeside peninsula formed entirely of compacted industrial slag on Chicago's Southeast Side, bound by Lake Michigan, the Calumet River, and 80th Street. The southern 128 acres house the high-tech Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP), where the completed 80,700-square-foot PsiQuantum "Beta" building features pre-rusted steel panels paying tribute to the site's former U.S. Steel furnaces. This high-security industrial tech zone contains massive exterior equipment pads, a major utility corridor, and the foundational footprint for the upcoming National Quantum Facility's shared industrial cryoplant.  Slicing directly through the center of the peninsula is a historic preservation corridor defined by the open North Vessel Slip shipping canal and its twin, brutalist 2,000-foot-long concrete ore walls, which have evolved into a lush, tree-lined wilderness canyon. Just north of this central divider sits the new healthcare sector, anchored by a 23-acre footprint for the upcoming 5-story, 183,000-square-foot Advocate Trinity Replacement Hospital. Wrapping around the entire eastern perimeter of the campus facing the open lake is a 1.65-mile public recreational trail, seamlessly connecting the active, modern tech labs and the hospital grid to the existing greenery of Steelworkers Park and Park 566. © 2026 Devodare_Chicago.
