Can you still do THIS at 60? Your ability to perform certain everyday movements can reveal a lot about your strength, balance, mobility, and physical independence as you age.
In this video, we look at five important signs of physical strength that can help older adults understand how well their body is functioning. You’ll learn why lower-body strength, balance, mobility, coordination, and functional movement matter so much after 60—and how these abilities can affect everyday activities such as getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, walking safely, and maintaining independence.
You’ll also learn what these movements can and cannot tell you about your health. Being able to perform an exercise does not diagnose a medical condition, and difficulty with a movement does not automatically mean something is wrong. Age, injuries, arthritis, medications, balance problems, and other health conditions can all affect physical performance.
Medical Information: This video is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have heart disease, severe joint pain, dizziness, balance problems, a recent injury, or another medical condition, talk with your healthcare professional before trying new exercises. Stop immediately if you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, faintness, or unusual pain.
Watch until the end to see which simple physical ability may be one of the most useful indicators of functional strength after 60—and what you can do to maintain your strength and independence as you get older.
