Delhi has witnessed a major student protest over women’s safety, rising sexual violence, harassment and the everyday challenges faced by women in public spaces. " 1 Kachori 2 Samosa ' slogan viral from here The protests intensified after the reported gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi on September 21, 2026. Reports said three men allegedly posed as police officers before separating the girl from her male friend. The incident raised serious questions about security at the park, including poor lighting, CCTV gaps and unmanned entry points. Following the incident, students from several Delhi University colleges, including Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), Gargi College, Miranda House and Kamala Nehru College (KNC), took part in protests and solidarity marches demanding safer public spaces and stronger security measures. Students spoke about harassment, catcalling, unsafe commutes, dark roads and the restrictions women face in their everyday lives. A major point of discussion was whether restricting women’s access to public spaces after sunset actually addresses the problem, or whether authorities should focus on lighting, CCTV, policing, public transport and safer infrastructure. Students have argued for “safety, not restrictions” and questioned measures that they feel place the burden of safety on women. In this video, we also speak to Delhi boys and students to understand their perspective on the girls’ protest, patriarchy, women’s safety, harassment and the responsibility of society in creating safer public spaces. The conversation extends beyond Delhi as concerns around student safety have also resonated with students at Lovely Professional University (LPU), where student protests have brought wider attention to safety concerns. 🎤 Delhi Boys’ POV: What do young men think about the protest? 👩 Girls’ POV: Why are students demanding safety instead of restrictions? 🏙️ Ground Reality: What do students experience while travelling through Delhi? 🗣️ Street Interviews: Honest opinions from students on patriarchy, crime and women’s safety.
