The program, titled 'Vande Mataram 150', was organized by the Department of Mass Communication, APU, with financial sponsorship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Composed in 1875 by the legendary poet and nationalist Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Vande Mataram continues to serve as an enduring symbol of national unity and patriotic fervor. The grand celebration, held at the APU Campus at Hill Top, Pasighat, brought together academic scholars, students, local leaders, and community members. Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon'ble Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Government of India, attended the grand celebration as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Prof. Ashan Riddi, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Arunachal Pradesh University. During the program, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated several key campus infrastructure projects and community initiatives, including: Official inauguration of the university's main entrance gate. A ceremonial tree planting initiative promoting environmental conservation and national unity. A vibrant showcase featuring photography exhibitions, traditional art and craft displays, and exhibition stalls set up by local Self-Help Groups (SHGs). As part of the wider commemorative series, APU conducted a broad range of academic and community-driven activities: A two-day academic seminar centered around the theme 'Song, Nation and Frontier' was organized, bringing together scholars from across the region and country. A total of 58 research papers were presented, exploring the intersection of patriotic literature, national identity, and borderland dynamics. The Hon'ble Minister formally released the official Book of Abstracts summarizing these contributions. Prioritizing environmental stewardship, the university partnered with the Pasighat Press Club to carry out a comprehensive cleanliness drive along the Sibo Korong River. To encourage youth participation, APU organized 10 distinct competitions leading up to the main celebration. During the closing ceremony, Chief Guest Shri Kiren Rijiju distributed awards to 47 competition winners. Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries emphasized the historical role of Vande Mataram in inspiring India's freedom struggle and highlighted the vital contribution of frontier regions like Arunachal Pradesh in upholding the nation's cultural and sovereign integrity. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge toward environmental sustainability and academic excellence.
