I paid $4 for this at the Goodwill Outlet Store in Hampton, VA. Normal Goodwill stores usually send these soft-bagged uprights straight to the Outlet Store or the trash, so that is likely what happened to this. The hose was clogged, but I doubt that they mounted the hose on it to test it. It had the usual thrift store vacuum cleaner issues. After a thorough cleaning, it is fine. I actually got this sometime in the summer and it sat in this tent garage that I have in my yard, so cleaning all the mold off it was quite a task, but I think that I did a good job.
This is a very similar machine to a Hoover Elite, but it is not nearly as good. It does not seem to clean as well as an Elite while drawing more current, the build quality/quality control is not to the same level, and it is very unpleasant to use because of the noise. The original Eureka Precision, which was based after the classic Eureka F&G machines and meant to compete with the Hoover PowerMax Concept, was a far better machine than this Precision. Acquiring my Hoover Encore Supreme (U4293-930) is what motivated me to restore this one, record it, and get rid of it.
