Discover Why WW1 Soldiers carried this Axe So Crooked into battle. In this Historic Restoration I rebuild a rare WW1 axe with its original offset handle. Unearthed after more than a century underground, this heavy broadaxe was caked in layers of dense battlefield rust. I used a 9% vinegar bath followed by deep electrolysis to pull the rust out of the pitted steel without erasing its history. To complete the tool, I carved an offset handle from wild cherry wood, keeping the authentic angled geometry used to protect a soldier's knuckles while shaping trench timbers. #axerestoration #ww1 #restoration
