In August 1946, a top secret memo asked President Truman to expand a program called Paperclip: bring German scientists to America. In the margin, he wrote "Approved." The rule attached to it said no one who had been "more than a nominal participant" in the Nazi Party would be brought over.
Then look at who came. Wernher von Braun, an SS officer. Arthur Rudolph, who ran V-2 production in a factory inside a mountain, worked by concentration camp prisoners. Rudolph went on to manage the Saturn V program. In 1984 he gave up his U.S. citizenship and left the country rather than face the Justice Department in court.
We read the declassified records line by line: the rule, the men who came anyway, and what happened when someone finally checked. Every document on screen is a real public record, shown unblurred. Nobody in this file was convicted of a crime in the U.S.; allegations are labeled as allegations.
