I built a spinning copper windmill lamp from scratch, combining handmade copper construction, mechanical movement, and warm LED lighting into a unique desktop electronic art piece. This version has a simple but useful upgrade: one control knob adjusts both the windmill's rotation speed and the brightness of the light at the same time. The windmill is built using copper rods, copper tubing, miniature bearings, a geared motor, ceramic LED filaments, and a rechargeable lithium battery. A PWM motor speed controller is used to control the rotation, while the lighting circuit is designed to work together with the same control system. The goal of this project is to create a small mechanical sculpture that is not only decorative, but also moves, lights up, and can be interacted with.
