Paleoloxodon Namadicus

Excited to share my latest work: Animating a Palaeoloxodon Namadicus.🦣 To capture the behaviour authentically, I spent hours observing footage of elephants, carefully noting how their immense weight shifts through each step, how subtle trunk and tail movements balance the body, and how their gait reflects both power and grace. Translating these observations into animation was a rewarding challenge; building detail with every subsequent pass to achieve believable locomotion for this prehistoric giant. Setting up the environment, lighting, and renders in Unreal Engine 5.8 allowed me to contextualize the animation, ensuring the creature felt grounded in its world while highlighting scale and atmosphere. A huge thanks to Creature Station for the amazing rig, which is very thoughtfully setup and enables animators to layer-in the fine details and nuances. This experience has strengthened my understanding of Giant/Heavy creatures and expanded my horizons for future creature explorations.
