FROM ARCHERS POST TO NAIROBI! 🇰🇪 A Scenic Road Trip Through Isiolo, Nanyuki & Central Kenya Join Queen Nancie on another exciting Kenyan road adventure as we travel from Archers Post in Samburu County, through Isiolo and Nanyuki, all the way to Nairobi City! This fascinating journey takes us from the rugged, sun-drenched landscapes of northern Kenya to the cooler highlands of Central Kenya before arriving in the busy, vibrant capital. This is more than just a road trip. It is an opportunity to discover Kenya's changing landscapes, explore important towns, appreciate the communities that call these regions home, and experience the beauty and diversity of our country from the road. OUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN ARCHERS POST, SAMBURU COUNTY We begin our journey in Archers Post, a settlement in Samburu County that serves as an important gateway to the world-famous Samburu National Reserve and the surrounding northern Kenya wilderness. This region is known for its beautiful semi-arid landscapes, acacia trees, rocky hills, traditional pastoralist communities, and the rich cultural heritage of the Samburu people. The wider area is also associated with the Ewaso Nyiro River ecosystem, which supports wildlife and communities in this otherwise dry environment. As we leave Archers Post behind, we begin our journey southwards, taking in the scenery and the everyday life of northern Kenya along the way. THROUGH ISIOLO — THE GATEWAY TO NORTHERN KENYA Our next major stop along the route is Isiolo Town, an important commercial and transport centre connecting northern Kenya with the central highlands and Nairobi. Isiolo is a fascinating meeting point of different communities, cultures, languages, and trading traditions. Its location makes it an important link between the northern counties and the rest of Kenya. As we travel through this area, we witness the transition from the dry landscapes of northern Kenya towards the greener and more agricultural regions further south. The journey offers a glimpse into the importance of road transport in connecting towns, moving goods, supporting businesses, and bringing communities closer together. TOWARDS NANYUKI — THE LAND OF MOUNT KENYA From Isiolo, we continue towards Nanyuki, a lively town in Laikipia County, situated near the equator and at the foot of the Mount Kenya region. Nanyuki is an important commercial centre and a popular gateway for travellers heading to Mount Kenya, wildlife conservancies, and other destinations in the region. On a clear day, the surrounding landscape can offer beautiful views towards Mount Kenya, although visibility depends on the weather. The scenery along this part of the journey contrasts sharply with the drier terrain of Samburu and Isiolo. The changing vegetation, farms, settlements, roadside businesses, and mountain-region atmosphere make this section particularly interesting. Nanyuki also offers an opportunity to appreciate the economic and tourism activities that support life around the Mount Kenya region. FROM THE MOUNT KENYA REGION TOWARDS NAIROBI Leaving Nanyuki, we continue southwards towards Nairobi, travelling through the wider Central Kenya region. Along the way, the landscape reflects the agricultural character of the highlands, with settlements, cultivated land, roadside markets, and busy transport corridors. The journey passes through areas such as Naro moru, Kiganjo, Karatina, Sagana, Makutano and Thika before reaching Nairobi. As we approach the capital, the atmosphere gradually changes. Rural landscapes give way to increasingly built-up areas, heavier traffic, commercial centres, and the fast-paced movement of one of East Africa's most important cities. ARRIVING IN NAIROBI — THE GREEN CITY IN THE SUN Our road trip concludes in Nairobi, Kenya's capital and largest city, a major centre for business, transport, education, tourism, and culture. Nairobi presents a striking contrast to Archers Post. We begin among the open, dry landscapes of northern Kenya and finish in a bustling metropolitan environment filled with businesses, residential neighbourhoods, modern buildings, and busy roads. This journey reminds us of the incredible diversity of Kenya and how different regions are connected through roads, trade, tourism, and the daily movement of people.
