Let Your Repentance Be Genuine - Judges 10:6-18 - Pastor Jim Schultz

What does genuine repentance actually look like? In Judges 10, Israel cries out to God after years of idolatry and oppression. But God’s response forces us to ask an uncomfortable question: Are we truly repentant, or are we simply sorry for the consequences of our sin? This sermon explores the difference between saying the right words and experiencing genuine heart change. True repentance doesn’t mean we become perfect or never struggle with sin again. It means that, by God’s grace, we turn from our idols and increasingly pursue Him with our lives. At the same time, Judges 10 reminds us that our forgiveness does not depend on performing repentance perfectly. We come to a God who is holy and rightly disciplines sin, yet is also wonderfully merciful and compassionate toward His people. Come consider what genuine repentance looks like, and rest in the good news that our salvation ultimately rests on the grace and mercy of God through Jesus Christ.
