Mallette to Sawmill Pass MTB Ride | Red River NM

The Mallette to Sawmill Pass MTB Ride starts at Mallette Canyon Park in Red River NM. It is 5.1 miles from the park to Sawmill Pass. The elevation gain for this 5-mile section is about 1600 feet. Just before the road heads downhill toward Cabresto Canyon, take a right at the sign toward Midnight Meadows and Greenie Peak. Follow this road until it intersects with FR 54H. Take a right at this intersection to say on FR 54K, which heads down a steep jeep trail back to Mallette Road 597. Note, if you want to go to Greenie Peak, go straight on FR 54H instead of turning right on FR 54K. The roads are open late June through mid-October and can be used by ATVs, Jeeps, and mountain bikes. Mallette Road 597 is smooth and somewhat steep, but FR 54 is rocky and very steep in places. Telemetry Overlay Software was used to create a heads-up display for this video.
