The Road Goes On is a peaceful, cinematic outlaw country song about leaving the past behind and finding freedom in the journey ahead. A deep, weathered baritone drifts over fingerpicked acoustic guitar, gentle harmonica, warm pedal steel, and restrained country instrumentation. Through golden valleys, morning mist, and endless open skies, the song unfolds as a quiet meditation on loss, acceptance, and the courage to keep moving without knowing where the road leads. Reflective and quietly joyful, it builds into a spacious instrumental journey toward a new sunrise. Lyrics — The Road Goes On Morning found me on the highway With the sun behind the hills Birds were waking in the cottonwoods And the world was standing still Dust was rising from the horse's feet Gold beneath the open sky A hawk was turning in the distance And I watched it learn to fly There were mountains past the timberline Blue beneath the morning haze There was smoke above a distant farm And light across the plains I didn't know the name of that town Didn't need to know its name I had somewhere I was going Though I couldn't say where that was The road goes on So I go on Sun climbed over distant mountains Wind moved softly through the grass A flock of birds crossed overhead And disappeared behind the clouds I thought about the men I'd been The ones I'd lost along the way Then I looked toward the morning And let the old world stay The road goes on And I go on No map beneath me No need to know The road goes on Through rain and sun Whatever waits there I'll meet it when I come The road goes on The sky stays wide The wind keeps moving And so will I The road goes on Beyond what I know I don't need the answer I just need to go The road goes on The road goes on I don't know where the road leads... I don't need to know. #OutlawCountry #DarkCountry #SouthernGothic #Americana #CountryMusic #CountryRock #OutlawMusic #WesternMusic #CountryBallad #GrittyCountry
