Once a year, I would go and stay with my in-laws in Kyoto, Japan for a month or two. They don’t speak English, and I only have super basic Japanese. While in Japan, we send our kids go to local school and my wife would be busy catching up with her relatives. That leaves me with ample of free time to roam about Kyoto on my own! In addition to the “famous” destination, I’d like to show you the non-touristy places, where the locals normally go. A hidden gem!
