english below TCR No. 12 – Die letzten drei Tage bis Kalamata | Verkehr, Hunde & Hitzeschlacht Nur noch drei Tage bis Kalamata – aber die letzten Kilometer haben es noch einmal richtig in sich. Von Leskovik in Albanien über Griechenland bis nach Kalamata liegen noch einmal harte Tage vor mir: brütende Hitze, viel Verkehr, einsame Straßen, unberechenbare Hunde und kaum Schlaf. Dazu kommen kleine und größere Probleme mit dem Rad – und natürlich jede Menge Kilometer und Höhenmeter. Aber es gibt auch besondere Momente: eine kleine Schildkröten-Rettungsaktion mitten auf der Straße, wunderschöne Landschaften, ein spektakulärer Sonnenuntergang über dem Ambrakischen Golf und am CP4 einen ganz besonderen TCR-Stempel: Georgie, vielleicht sieben oder acht Jahre alt, drückt mir unter der Anleitung ihres Papas meinen vierten und vorletzten Stempel in die Karte. Das Stempelkissen macht es ihr dabei nicht gerade leicht … 😉 Und dann rückt Kalamata tatsächlich immer näher. 5100 km – 51.000 Höhenmeter – 20 Tage – und ein Ziel. From Leskovik in Albania through Greece to Kalamata, the last days bring everything I could have done without: brutal heat, heavy traffic, lonely roads, unpredictable dogs and very little sleep. On top of that, there are a few bike problems – and, of course, plenty of kilometres and elevation gain. But there are also some unforgettable moments: a turtle rescue in the middle of the road, beautiful landscapes, a spectacular sunset over the Ambracian Gulf and, at CP4, a very special TCR stamp. Georgie, perhaps seven or eight years old, gets to stamp my fourth and penultimate stamp into my card under the expert guidance of her dad. The ink pad doesn't make things easy for her … 😉 And then Kalamata is suddenly getting very, very close. 5,100 km – 51,000 m of elevation gain – 20 days – and one finish line.
