Transcontinental Race - TCR No12 – #4 | CP2 → CP3 | 1.100 km, 7.500 Hm – drei Nächte im Zelt

english below! Von Demanovská Dolina (CP2) geht es weiter Richtung Süden. Vor mir liegen 1.100 Kilometer und 7.500 Höhenmeter bis zum nächsten Kontrollpunkt hoch über Sarajevo. Vier Tage durch Slowakei, Ungarn, Kroatien und Bosnien und Herzegowina – bei brütender Hitze durch die pannonische Tiefebene, entlang der Donau und schließlich hinein in die Berge. Es sind Tage voller Gegensätze: endlose flache Straßen und plötzlich wieder Höhenmeter, wenig Schlaf und Powernaps im Schatten, gefährlicher Verkehr, Grenzübergänge, Hunde, Schotterwege bei Nacht und immer wieder die Suche nach Wasser und einem Schlafplatz. In Ungarn klettert die Temperatur auf über 40 Grad. In Kroatien fahre ich weiter Richtung Osijek und beschließe dort spontan, der Route des TCR-Siegers Robin Gemperle zu folgen. Von hier an fahre ich ins Unbekannte. Dann Bosnien und Herzegowina: neue Landschaft, Minarette in den Dörfern, Muezzinrufe, Berge – und Straßen, die mir alles abverlangen. Nur noch 300 Kilometer und mehr als 3.000 Höhenmeter liegen vor mir, als ich Osijek verlasse. Ahead of me are 1,100 kilometres and 7,500 metres of climbing before reaching the next checkpoint high above Sarajevo. Four days through Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina – riding through the scorching heat of the Pannonian Plain, along the Danube and finally into the mountains. These are days of contrasts: endless flat roads followed by serious climbing, very little sleep and power naps in the shade, dangerous traffic, border crossings, dogs, unexpected gravel roads at night – and the constant search for water and somewhere to sleep. In Hungary, the temperature climbs above 40°C. In Croatia, I continue towards Osijek, where I spontaneously decide to follow the route ridden by TCR winner Robin Gemperle. From here on, I am riding into the unknown. Then Bosnia and Herzegovina: a different landscape, minarets in the villages, the call of the muezzin, mountains – and roads that demand everything from me. When I leave Osijek, there are still 300 kilometres and more than 3,000 metres of climbing ahead of me.
