Japanese flute music for deep sleep — a 3-hour zen mix from Tsukiyo Sounds. Played on the yokobue, the Japanese side-blown bamboo flute. Tsukiyo (月夜) means "moonlit night" in Japanese. 🌙 Mix note: Fourteen pieces for one night beside a lotus pond, a single open flower standing above black motionless water with the moon laid out across it, played on a single yokobue. The evening opens with long sustained tones and slow vibrato, each phrase followed by a pause; as the night deepens the pond goes completely still and the flute drops into its softest low register. At midnight the tone thins to almost breath alone over a low warm drone, a distant koto places one plucked note far behind the flower, and the last hours leave the blossom alone against the dark. Before dawn the moon is still lying on the water. Listen for the breath at the head of each phrase — it is part of the instrument, and we did not clean it away. A pond at night usually comes with its own chorus; this one has none.
