Mari Gantner

This is a recording of the joint metabolism lab meeting that took place on 6/4/2024. Our speaker was Mari Gantner, PhD, a scientist at the Lowy Medical Research institute. Mari studies a disease called Macular telangiectasia (MacTel), which a genetic analysis suggests is an inborn error of serine and glycine metabolism. Despite the global importance of serine and glycine systemically, the retina is the primary tissue affected. Mari discusses her current efforts to understand how serine and glycine affect the retina and adjacent retinal pigment epithelium.
