Double Header Durango to Silverton

I had a double header steam engine from Durango for my day trip out to Silverton. Since the 9am train was 15 cars we needed an extra steam engine to get up 5,000c feet and into Silverton. I flipped a lid when I saw my train was a double header. D&SR Engine 473 coupled to D&SR engine 480 for some aid to Silverton. 473 was the lead engine and engine 480 was the helper. Once we got to Silverton they un coupled and sent engine 480 back to Durango as it is all down hill back to Durango. The Silverton ride is more scenic than the Cascade Canyon train. 2 steam engines I had a blast. Durango and Silverton is the 2nd best train in the United States for scenery and good service. I still claim Skagway is better.
