Welcome back to City Girl Village Life Africa! ❤️🌿
Today, we bring you another beautiful episode of authentic African village life, filled with family moments, laughter, traditional outdoor cooking, and a delicious homemade Nigerian meal. Come along with Ifeoma and the family as they prepare a satisfying lunch of boiled yam with fresh tomato and egg sauce, cooked the traditional village way over a wood fire!
The day begins with a lively family compound full of activities and conversations. Ifeoma is seen discussing with Oluchukwu, while Mama Ebere washes clothes and chats with Nkemdiri and Mr Okeke. There is always something happening in the village, and these simple moments remind us of the beauty of family, togetherness, and everyday African life.
After a while, Ifeoma and Chibueze bring out the ingredients for lunch. Today’s menu is a favourite Nigerian combination: soft, delicious boiled yam served with rich tomato and egg sauce.
Ifeoma begins by peeling and slicing the yam, while Chibueze spends some playful moments with little Neme, Oluchukwu’s baby. The compound becomes even livelier when Chidiogo returns from church and runs excitedly to greet her father and the rest of the family.
As the cooking begins, Chibueze arranges the traditional fireplace, and Ifeoma places the yam on the fire to boil. She wastes no time preparing the ingredients for her fresh tomato and egg sauce, carefully washing and slicing ripe tomatoes and onions.
Meanwhile, Mama Ebere and the children help keep the fire burning, making sure the food cooks properly. Oluchukwu and her baby eventually leave for home, while the family continues with their lunch preparations.
When the yam becomes soft and tender, Ifeoma carefully drains away the water. She then places a large traditional cooking pan, known as an agbada, over the fire to prepare the delicious sauce.
Once the water in the pan dries up, she adds cooking oil and begins frying the tomatoes and onions, allowing their wonderful aroma to fill the cooking area. She beats fresh eggs in a plate while Mama Ebere lends a helping hand, stirring the tomatoes to prevent them from burning.
Chibuike also joins in by pounding fresh pepper and crayfish, adding that authentic homemade flavour that makes traditional Nigerian food so special.
Ifeoma then combines the pepper, crayfish, beaten eggs, and other seasonings with the fried tomatoes. She stirs everything together carefully and allows the sauce to cook until it is rich, colourful, and ready to serve.
Finally, the delicious meal is ready! Ifeoma arranges the soft boiled yam and freshly prepared tomato and egg sauce on a large serving tray. The family gathers around the table, and everyone enjoys the wonderful homemade lunch together.
There is something special about sharing a meal with loved ones. From the busy family compound to the crackling firewood and the delicious aroma of freshly cooked food, this episode captures the warmth, simplicity, and beauty of everyday African village family life.
