Join me on an unforgettable hike along the Henderson Falls Track via Won Wondah Falls in the stunning Great Otway National Park near Lorne, Victoria. This moderate trail offers a perfect blend of lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and unique wildlife encounters, making it a must-do for nature lovers and adventure seekers. We start at the serene Sheoak Picnic Area, a great spot to gear up before entering the trail. As we step into the Fern Paradise Entryway, you'll be immersed in a world of towering tree ferns and vibrant greenery. Crossing the charming Sheoak Creek Wooden Bridge, the path leads us deeper into the forest where we spot a curious Short-beaked Echidna rustling through the underbrush – a highlight for any wildlife enthusiast! Climbing up to The Ridge Line, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Otways before descending to the mesmerizing Won Wondah Falls. Here, the water tumbles gracefully over moss-covered rocks, creating a peaceful oasis. Nearby, marvel at the Giant Eucalypt Tree, a true giant of the forest with its massive trunk and soaring canopy. The trail gets adventurous with The Muddy Track sections, adding a bit of fun challenge as we navigate through the damp earth. Surrounded by Tree Fern Abundance, the path feels like a prehistoric jungle. We then cross the sturdy Henderson Creek Bridge, leading us to the grand finale: the Henderson Falls Base. Stand in awe as the graceful waterfall cascades down over the mossy rockface, misting the air and providing a refreshing end to the journey. This hike is about 4-5 km return, with some steep sections and steps, so wear good shoes and bring water. It's ideal for families or solo hikers looking to connect with Australia's natural beauty. Whether you're from Victoria or visiting Lorne, this track showcases the best of the Great Otway National Park. #HikingVictoria #GreatOtwayNationalPark #WaterfallHikes #ferns #echidna Chapters: 0:00 Intro 0:34 Sheoak Picnic Area & Car Park 0:59 Hike Overview 2:08 Start of Henderson Falls Track via Nature Walk Loop 2:21 Fern Paradise Entryway 2:49 Wooden Bridge - Sheoak Creek 3:21 View of Sheoak Creek 3:55 Dense Fern Tunnel 4:18 Fern Forest 5:12 Uphill Climb out of Fern Forest 5:32 Sharps Track Detour to Return to Henderson Falls Track 6:33 Short-beacked Echidna Spotted 7:20 Winds increasing - rain threathening 7:36 Balm Mint Bush - Drier Forest Transition 7:50 The Ridge Line 8:14 Forest drama with birds - weather shaky 8:59 Sign for lower track to Won Wondah Falls 9:24 Entering Won Wondah Falls Viewing Platform 9:50 First Glimpse of Won Wondah Falls 10:04 Plant-life Platform Views 10:22 Won Wondah Falls Views 10:50 Plaform View and discussion 11:29 Top of Won Wondah Falls discussion 12:20 Cinematic Views - Top of Won Wondah Falls 13:20 Junction Point - Phantom Falls Track 13:39 Quick Detour - Phantom Falls Track - Observe Henderson Creek Crossing 14:26 Muddy path alongside Henderson Creek 14:54 Tree Fern Abundance 15:17 Wet Forest Canopy 15:30 Henderson Creek Bridge 15:42 Cinematic Views - Henderson Creek 16:29 Giant Eucalypt Tree 16:49 Fern Gully near Henderson Falls 17:03 Henderson Falls Approach 17:31 Base of Henderson Falls 17:42 Cinematic Views - Henderson Falls 17:57 Secluded Fern Grotto 18:10 The Shallow Pool 18:23 Mossy Cascade Face 18:38 Cinematic Photo Pans & Close ups 19:10 General Comments - Base of Phantom Falls 20:12 Departing the Falls & Final Wrap 20:46 Overview of More Trip Videos Coming Soon
