How should we live? It is one of the oldest and most difficult questions we can ask. What is truly worth wanting? How much should we expect from life? Can we trust other people? How should we respond when the world is unfair? In this introductory episode, Father Edward presents a new series inspired by the reflections of the Polish philosopher Professor Leszek Kołakowski. His observations do not offer a perfect formula for happiness. Instead, they provide a collection of signposts — simple but demanding invitations to reflect on friendship, desire, ambition, trust, disappointment, beauty, suffering, happiness, and the human condition. These videos will not be philosophical lectures, nor will they be sermons in the usual sense. They will be calm, honest conversations about the difficult art of living with ourselves and with others. Faith may sometimes enter these reflections, because faith is part of the way Father Edward understands the world. But it will not be used to close difficult questions too quickly.
