In this video, we solve the CPU chip in the nand2tetris course - the chip that ties together the ALU, registers, and Program Counter into the beating heart of the Hack computer. We derive the theory behind instruction decoding — how a single 16-bit instruction is split into op-code, control bits, and destination/jump fields - and how the CPU wires the ALU, A-register, D-register, and PC together to execute both A-instructions and C-instructions, then implement the chip using the Hardware Description Language (HDL). This is part of my nand2tetris Solutions playlist, where I'm solving every nand2tetris project step by step to understand how a computer is built from the ground up, from a single NAND gate to a complete operating system. 🔗 Original Nand2Tetris Project: https://www.nand2tetris.org/course 🔗 Nand2Tetris Online IDE: https://nand2tetris.github.io/web-ide 🔗 My GitHub repo: https://github.com/amithkumars-ds/sil...
