Pip and the Rope Bridge - a gentle, original bedtime story to help little ones drift off to sleep. On a long summer evening, Mrs. Bell and Pip walk along the cliff path to take a pot of jam to her brother Tom, who lives in the little white cottage on the island at Carrick-a-Rede - the one you reach by a rope bridge. The bridge creaks, and sways, and rocks like a cradle, and every seabird they pass is going to bed. Carrick-a-Rede is a real place on the north coast of Ireland. Fishermen have strung a bridge across to the little island for more than 350 years, to reach the salmon that swim past it every summer. It hangs about thirty metres above the sea, and you can still walk across it today. A calm, soft voice reads a 19-minute story about Pip and friends, with a slow music-box lullaby and a quiet animated night scene to watch. When the story ends the lullaby carries on softly, so there is no sudden silence. Lovely for bedtime, nap time, or a quiet moment. Keep the volume low and let it play.
