Three back-to-back lunch break sessions this week to hunt down some trick confirmation. Wednesday and Thursday were spent at Peak Park in Buena Park, forcing the repetition on core baselines to build up that long-term muscle memory. By Friday, the venue shifted to Manzanita, but we ran straight into heavy Santa Ana winds. The gusts instantly turned the park into a high-distraction environment, forcing me to dial back the raw aggression, adapt the pacing, and prioritize safety above everything else. The mental battle this week was all about clearing the fog and finding absolute focus despite the elements. When the wind is actively pushing you around mid-set up, you have to lean heavily into self-talk and trust the methodical learning approach. Instead of rushing the setup, the goal was tracking technical micro-goals—breaking down foot placement on flat ground kickflips, locking in on frontside and backside boardslides on the flat bar, and keeping the weight centered in the manuals. It was a grueling three days that took a distinct physical tax, but the repetition paid off. Locked down some solid confirmation on recent trick wins, fought through the sketchy Friday wind gusts with a few clean no-complys, and kept the baseline consistency sharp. Most importantly, adjusted to the conditions to leave both parks completely healthy with ground safely won. Production Notes: Friday's audio tracks capture the heavy reality of the Santa Ana wind gusts hitting the microphone setup mid-session. Keep chipping away.
