In the aftermath of the Moamoria rebellion, the Ahom kingdom was already struggling with internal divisions. The rise of Badan Chandra Borphukan, his conflict with the Ahom court, and his eventual appeal for Burmese intervention opened a door that would have consequences far beyond the political struggles of the moment. From the court of Bodawpaya in Burma, forces moved toward the Brahmaputra Valley. What followed would become one of the most devastating periods in Assam's history. The Invitation tells the story of the beginning — the moment when internal conflict created an opening for an outside power, and when political calculations helped set an entire land on a path toward war, occupation, suffering, and displacement. This is not simply a war song. It is a story about what happens when a kingdom fractures, when loyalties collapse, and when those divisions invite forces that become impossible to control.
