The Part of My Life You Won’t See on YouTube

I share a lot of my life here in the Scottish Highlands — and naturally, my family is part of that life. But this isn’t a family channel, and I don’t want it to become one. In this video, I wanted to talk about something I’ve thought about a lot since sharing more of my life online: how do you show an honest picture of family life without making your children’s lives the content? We’re heading to the beach, taking a woodland walk and sharing another ordinary day in the far north of Scotland, while I chat about the boundaries I’ve chosen for my channel — why I don’t show my children’s faces, why there are parts of their lives I’ll never share, and why I believe their stories should ultimately be theirs to tell. It can make filming everyday life a little more complicated, but it’s a compromise I’m very happy to make. My children are a huge part of my life, so they’ll naturally exist around the edges of these videos — but their childhood doesn’t need to be documented for the internet. I also have a little book review along the way, and we finish back where we started, by the sea. 🌊 I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
