Faithful With What Belongs to Another | Luke 16:1–13
What if the things we call “mine” are really things God has temporarily placed in our hands?
In Luke 16, Jesus teaches that everything we hold has an expiry date.
Our money.
Our possessions.
Our careers.
Our homes.
Our opportunities.
So wisdom asks:
What can I do with what is in my hand now that will matter beyond now?
This message explores faithfulness, stewardship and lordship.
Faithfulness is not about having a lot.
It is about what we do with what has been entrusted to us.
And stewardship is not only about money.
It reaches into our households, our time, our decisions, our generosity, our planning and our witness.
But ultimately, the deepest issue is not budgeting.
It is lordship.
What God gives us must never become the god we serve.
The message concludes at the Lord’s Table with the reminder that Christian stewardship does not begin with what we give to God.
It begins with what God has already given to us:
His Son.
Grace is free to us, but it was costly to Christ.
Our hope does not rest in perfect stewardship.
Our hope rests in Jesus Christ.
It may be in our hand, but it is not ultimately ours. It belongs under the rule of Jesus.
