Did We Just Buy Another Broken BMW Engine?

We bought a replacement engine for the cheapest BMW on the internet… but have we just bought someone else's problems? In Part 3 of our BMW E91 project, we're finally turning our attention to the replacement M47 diesel engine we bought from eBay. With the original engine removed, we're hoping this second-hand replacement will be the key to getting our £500 BMW back on the road. But before we can fit it, we need to find out exactly what we've bought. The big question is whether this replacement engine is actually any better than the one we took out, or whether we've just made another expensive mistake. Can we finally make some progress on the cheapest BMW on the internet, or is our budget rebuild about to get even more expensive?
