Starting Sea Fishing – Learning How to Cast

When people first start fishing, they need a simple, effective way to cast which will put their tackle out a reasonable distance from the shore without hugely expensive tackle. Living and fishing in Torbay, I have seen many newcomers to the sport struggle when, with a little bit of time, help and practice, they could soon refine the basic overhead cast into a style capable of delivering baits a comfortable 100 yards plus from the shore. Rafa asked me to help him get his casting sorted out so I thought, well, why not do a video on it, especially as it also gave me the opportunity to stress the importance of having a shock leader, an absolutely essential safety aid, and the chance to demonstrate what I personally consider to be one of the best leader knots in the UK.
