Every evening on 3 September, a ceremonial tower approximately 30 metres tall and weighing around five tonnes is carried for more than a kilometre through Viterbo’s historic streets by about 100 Facchini di Santa Rosa. Since 2013, this remarkable tradition has formed part of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
